What is the Quality Review Program?

The Quality Review Program is designed to support and elevate the quality of online courses at The Catholic University of America. Using our Quality Review Tool (QRT), we provide a structured approach to reviewing and improving course design before students engage with the material.

This program is aimed at fully online courses (both asynchronous and synchronous) and ensures that the courses meet high standards for design, structure, and student experience.

    Key Benefits of the Program

    • Elevate Course Quality: Ensure your course is aligned with the university's high standards.
    • Improve Student Experience: Well-designed courses lead to better learning outcomes and higher student satisfaction.
    • Receive a Quality Designation: Courses that meet the QRT standards will receive an official Quality Course Designation.

How the Program Works

You can engage with the Quality Review Program in three ways, each providing a clear view of how your course aligns with the Quality Review Tool.
  • 1. Individual Review

  • 2. Guided Individual Review

    • Assisted Self-review: Meet briefly with a Center for Teaching Excellence (CTE) instructional designer to go over the QRT.
    • Outcome: No quality designation is provided.

  • 3. Dual Review

    • Collaborative Review: Work closely with a CTE instructional designer to review your course.
    • Outcome: If your course meets the QRT standards, it will receive a Quality Course Designation.

    Dual Review Process Overview:

    1. Submit a Request: Start by submitting a request via the CTE Service Request form.
    2. Initial Meeting: Meet with a CTE team member to discuss the process and set a review timeline.
    3. Independent Review: Both you and the CTE team member will review your course using the QRT.
    4. Review Meeting: Compare findings, create a Revision Plan, and make adjustments as needed.
    5. Final Review: Once revisions are complete, the course will receive a Quality Course Designation if all criteria are met.
